Historical Fashion Designing Icons: Part III
It just never seems to end. The list of famous fashion designing icons is so long that it is hard to leave anyone out. It would be impossible to include everyone. However, we are going to do our best to include some of the most influential names in history. Thus, the “Historical Fashion Designing Icons: Part III.”
Hugo Boss-This clothing designer started a shop in Germany in 1923, only a few short years after the end of World War I. It is said that this shop had designed Nazi uniforms. This company suffered some hardships during the 1950s but then made a comeback in 1953 which was about five years after Hugo Boss the founder died.
In the 1950s a new line of men’s suits were created under this label, and then right after that a new collection of women’s clothing was made. Its first fragrance came much later-70 years or so. This company has over the years expanded into creation and production of many categories of accessories.
Ralph Lauren-He is an American fashion designing legend born in the year 1939. He is most known for his Polo Ralph Lauren brand. At a young age, he worked hard to earn money to buy suits. Apparently he always admired sophisticated dress and perhaps that is what sprouted the seed to what the Ralph Lauren Company has become today.
Throughout the years, numerous lines of men’s and women’s Polo Ralph Lauren clothing was created. This name became known all around the globe, and even accessories, housewares, and perfumes of all kinds have this label printed on it. Ralph Lauren is now 70 years old.
Calvin Klein-This famous American fashion designing icon was born in 1942. He created what later became the world-renowned Calvin Klein, Inc. This company now creates numerous lines of women’s and men’s clothing as well as endless perfumes and accessories.
They also have an extensive line of watches and jewelry. This company is probably known most for its comfortable jeans and briefs. Aside from that, you may be interested to know he had at one point received an honorary doctorate from the Fashion Institute of Technology.
He did an apprenticeship in 1962 at a manufacturer known as Dan Millstein. He also gained more design experience as he spent five years employing in fashion designing at other New York shops. Calvin Klein is now 67 years old.
