Fashion Designing Trends from the Early 2000s

From the year 2000 to present (2009 and 2010) fashion designing trends seem to be a little bit harder to define. There is definitely some differing of opinions right now as to what really marks this era.

The main reason why is for the most part it seems the trend of “anything goes” seems to be continuing. This is a trend which was also very indicative of the late 1960s and early to mid 1970s.

Therefore, some experts and consumers would suggest that from the year 2000 until now is a repeat of the 1970s. However, others might suggest that it is a repeat of the 1980s.

You should remember though that it was as early as the mid-1990s when 1970s styles started coming back. Therefore, it probably can be predicted by the year 2020 perhaps 1980s styles will be returning.

In the mean time, we can provide you with as accurate as possible a short record of the fashion designing trends from the year 2000 to present. This is broken down into early, mid, and late 2000s fashions.

However, note that this article was getting so long that it has been broken down into two parts. This first part focuses on the early to mid 2000s while the second part focuses on the early 2000s to present (2010).

Early 2000s-One fashion designing highlight concerns the continuance of the platform shoe trend. However, the major fashion designing shift concerning this type of shoe was that it infiltrated the bottoms of sneakers (particularly the Buffalo Boot). This type of shoe was seen more out in the streets rather than just in the clubs as the dress platform shoe would have been seen.

The early 2000s can also be remembered for the following: nylon tracksuits, formal shirts, fleece sweatshirts, and polo shirts, along with crew necked jumpers and baseball caps. This was largely indicative of UK fashion during this time.

Black miniskirts were still very popular but skirts and casual dress were not held in as high of esteem as T-shirts and jeans. The trend of the 1900s of clothing styles and fashioning designing centering on blue jeans continued for awhile yet.

However, during the early 2000s there is also what is known as the “Boho” look that was popular. This can be described as many things, but mostly it is trendy dress with hints of hippie and bohemian fashion.

For instance, maybe a semi-formal occasion might include a short, floaty skirt and blouse but would be accented with “love beads.” Either that or bell bottomed jeans might have been worn with a fancy blouse and long earrings and/or a body piercing.
